DMN: These Texans have waited weeks for unemployment checks. Now rent is due

U.S. Rep. Lloyd Dogget, D-Austin, on Tuesday led all Democrats in the state’s congressional delegation in asking Abbott to temporarily waive the requirement in Texas.

“We can help keep the Commission afloat and keep more Texans on board by removing administrative burdens that are delaying much-needed support,” Doggett said in a statement. “Texans shouldn’t have to risk further delay because an over-burdened TWC does not receive their unemployment affirmation. This red tape hurdle should be cut for the duration of this crisis.”
