AAS: LOCAL REACTION: DACA decision sparks a mix of cheers, disappointment

Others, including U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, feared that Trump may be trying to hold the program over Democrats’ heads in order to get his way on other immigration-related measures, such as a border wall.

“This is an attempt to make Dreamers bargaining chips to achieve other Trump anti-immigrant objectives,” Doggett said in a statement. “Protecting Dreamers must be nonnegotiable.”

SB 4 Halted for Now, but ‘Fight Isn’t Over Yet’

“This is a decision to do something about a sanctuary bill which is really nothing but a sanctuary for prejudice,” said U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas). “We will never accept being drug backwards by those state officials that are kind of the Junior Trumps up there in Austin.”

KSAT: Federal court orders Texas voting map changes ahead of 2018

“Rep. Lloyd Doggett’s office released the following statement: The court unanimously found that the Republican-drawn congressional map was intentionally discriminatory. What Republicans did was not just wrong, it was unconstitutional. Since the U.S. Supreme Court will have the final say, this extended struggle is not yet over. The ranking member of the House Ways and Means Tax Policy Subcommittee, Doggett’s criticism was particularly pointed at groups tied to the billionaire Koch brothers, which are hosting an event with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin later today and another one Wednesday with Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), chairman of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus.

“Congress may have recessed for August, but billionaire special interests, who demand ever more tax breaks, never go into recess.”

The Hill: Dems blast HHS for cutting teen pregnancy program

The Democrats, led by Reps. Barbara Lee (Calif.), Michelle Lujan Grisham (N.M.), Ted Deutch (Fla.) and Lloyd Doggett (Texas), want Price to reveal who in the administration dictated the cut and whether officials weighed “the burden and adverse impacts” on both the teenagers receiving TPPP services and the health professionals providing them. The economic effect on local communities, the lawmakers suggested, should not be ignored.

Reps. Doggett and Pocan Call for Multinational Corporations to Disclose Country-by-Country Reporting

U.S. Representatives Lloyd Doggett (TX) and Mark Pocan (WI) led 16 House Democrats in calling on the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) to require multinational corporations to disclose meaningful country-by-country reporting information in their public financial statements. Requiring the information would help strengthen disclosure and efficiency in corporate financial statements, while protecting investors, policymakers, and the American public.
