From families in South San Antonio to North Austin, I am thankful for today’s important vote of confidence in my service. And I am especially thankful that in January, I will return to a Congress with a Democratic majority and a Democratic speaker. This election offers both good news and bad. We are not where we want to be yet, but we have come a very long way closer.
To all of you who worked so hard, you deserve the credit for the record-breaking turnout. You have provided a strong foundation to build on for the presidential election, now only two years away and counting.
But with the Senate under Republican control and the President clearly out of control, our work will remain very challenging. We can now begin to demand accountability, and if Trump will seize the opportunity, work together on issues like infrastructure, trade, and prescription drugs.
